Some time ago I wrote a series of articles highly critical of a well known allegedly Christian radio broadcaster, a man who had predicted the date of the return of Christ and the subsequent end of the world. I said the man wasnā€™t a Christian. I said he was a delusional fruitcake. One reader in particular was really upset with my remarks. How dare I judge this man, she asked. After all, I canā€™t know his heart. Only God can. But the Bible is clear in Matthew 7: verse 15-20 that we are to judge a tree by its fruit. No one is a Christian simply because he says that he is. And itā€™s not about knowing the secrets of someoneā€™s heart. It is about what they say and do. And it is about judging what they say and do with righteous judgment.
