Iâve always been fascinated by the extent of infighting in the Republican Party. Itâs especially true in Iowa politics where frequently, youâll see one pro-life groups at odds with another pro-life group or a gun rights group publicly attacking another gun rights group with viciousness. When I see it happen, I canât help but ask myself, âWhat does the average citizen, looking in from the outside think when they see this?â They have to be asking themselves why the attacks occur, when the two sparring groups are supposed to be on the same side of the fence.
Unfortunately, it seems this problem is getting worse, instead of better.
Saturday, for what appeared to be no real reason, President Trump sent out one of his infamous tweets, encouraging people to watch Judge Jeanine Pirroâs show last night. On that show, Ms. Pirro, in her usual brash and street-girl style, called for Paul Ryan to be ousted as Speaker of the House for failing to deliver Obamacare-Lite as President Trump desired. Paul Ryan has in turn, blamed the Freedom Caucus for not voting for the debacle of a healthcare plan, and the Freedom Caucus is blaming the Republican establishment for not honoring their word to REPEAL and replace Obamacare. On top of that, serious retribution has begun, and Congressman David Young (R-Iowa) is being punished by the Congressional Leadership fund. They have decided to pull his funding and staff, and cite his opposition to Obamacare-Lite as the reason why.
In their statement:
âCLF will be terminating our lease because David Young has decided not to support President Trump and House leadership,â CLF executive director Corry Bliss said. âAt this time the Congressional Leadership Fund has no plans to spend any money for David Young this cycle but we wish him the best of luck.â
So this is what the party of small government and individual liberty has come to?  No longer, are we a party âOf The People, By The People and For The Peopleâ. We are a party of âRepresent the Leadership or be Punished for Representing Your Constituentsâ.
The Republican Party  has been set adrift by itâs leadership and has no real purpose, anymore.  Theyâve  lost site of what theyâre supposed to represent, and instead, have reverted back to a high school mentality of cliques and groups, trying to be the most popular kids on the block instead of doing their homework and chores, like they should do.
Itâs a sad day when a sitting president uses a media personality as a mouth-piece to call for the demise of the Speaker of the House because the Separation of Powers Clause of the Constitution worked as it should.
Itâs a sad day when the CLF attempts to destroy the career of a US Representative for representing the will of the people, rather than the will of the President.
Itâs a sad day when the Freedom Caucus is publicly slapped by itâs own House leadership for keeping itâs word to repeal Obamacare.
Itâs a sad day when Americans who call themselves conservatives clap like trained seals because their favorite conservative landed a public punch to the face of their least favorite conservative.
Republicans are no longer the party of the Constitution, and instead have become the party of infighting and the circular firing squad.
And it needs to stop if we donât plan on handing the government over to the Democrat Party in 2020.
