There were a few prominent local speakers at the Des Moines Tea Party Rally on Saturday.  The first was given by a tea party favorite, State Representative Kim Pearson (R-Pleasant Hill), whose speech is sure to give some Iowa Republican leadership heartburn.

I imagine the reception at the Republican caucus will likely be a little colder for her today.

Steve Deace, formerly of WHO Radio, spoke next.  His challenge was are people gathered going to be patriots or party loyalists.

He gave a pretty good speech so I’ll have to forgive the fact he came to speak with a Michigan coat and Iowa State hat.

His successor in the afternoon drive time slot at WHO Radio, Simon Conway, also came to speak after a couple of weeks of hosting the show.  He recently moved from Florida so Iā€™m sure he enjoyed the weather.
