From Chicago Tribune:

The Illinois Senate took an oath today to be sworn in as jurors in the historic impeachment trial of Gov. Rod Blagojevich, hours after he made his first Capitol appearance since his arrest last month on federal corruption charges.

Blagojevich fulfilled his master-of-ceremonies role of overseeing the swearing-in of state senators and then departed out a back door.

The Senate later voted 58-0 to adopt rules for conducting Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s impeachment trial. New Senate President John Cullerton (D-Chicago) said the impeachment rules were modeled after those used by the U.S. Senate at the impeachment trial of President Bill Clinton.

As Jeff Angelo put it – Awwwwkward!
