This is part of a sermon that R.C. Sproul shared at Together for the Gospel in 2008 on “The Curse Motif of the Atonement.”

“Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree,” (Galatians 3:13, ESV).

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God, (2 Corinthians 5:21, ESV, emphasis mine).

Thank you Jesus for becoming the curse of God so that I don’t have to bear it myself.
