chris-christie-2016-announcementNew Jersey Governor Chris Christie became the 14th major candidate to announce a run for the White House.  Christie joins Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Ben Carson, Carly Fiorina, Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum, Lindsey Graham, George Pataki, Rick Perry, Donald Trump, Jeb Bush and Bobby Jindal in a crowded Republican field.

Christie, age 52, made his announcement at his high school alma mater, Livingston High School in Livingston, NJ.  He promoted himself as a candidate who will “tell it like it is,” as someone who will be a fighter for the American people.

“I am now ready to fight for the people of the United States of America,” Christie stated. “America is tired of hand-wringing, of indecisiveness  in the Oval Office. And that is why, today, I am proud to announce my candidacy.”

“I mean what I say, and I say what I mean, and that’s what America needs right now.  You’re going to get what I think, whether you like it or not, whether it makes you cringe every once in a while or not,” Christie added.
