Psalm 18:1 “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.”

Another GOP primary season has come and gone. And Christian morality was rejected at almost every level.  This is not the first time that has ever happened. How many times have we gotten behind a conservative candidate, only to find that we were “used” by him or her and the things we care most about always seem to be put on the back burner?

Most people are sheep. They will follow any candidate that tickles their fancy and defend every move their favorite candidate makes. For a while; conservatives thought that they could Christianize the culture. We were the Moral Majority. This presidential cycle puts that “reality” to rest.  Some candidates are able to get re-elected because “this time they really mean it.”

As as far as politics is concerned, sinners are simply acting according to their nature. We seem baffled that candidates lie, but they all do. The Bible says “All men are liars” I remember Governor Mitt Romney saying he has never lied and proceeded to say that he did not “such & such” ad against Newt Gingrich, but then they played the ad that Romney denied.

They are enemies of Christ and will oppose the church at every turn. Jesus said, “Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you” Some versions translate the word”marvelous” as “Surprised”

He also said

“If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you. (John 5:18-20b)

And yet, we are surprised when rulings come down upholding abortion or forcing us to accept “homosexual marriage”

Having established that the we are the enemies of the world, there is a paradox. Many have thrown down the gauntlet since the most recent Supreme Court ruling.  Pastors preach against the homosexual lobby, but fail to see the unseen battle in the heavens. Homosexuals are not our enemies to be fought with bayonettes and bullets, but sinners, like us, who need to be saved.

We should take up arms yes, but we are to be armed with the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.
