Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) will step down as the chair of the Democratic National Committee after this week’s Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. She has come under fire numerous times before, but the Wikileaks of DNC emails that revealed a party that appeared to be stacking the deck for Hillary Clinton in her primary race against U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (D-VT).
I’m actually surprised she was able to hang on as the DNC chair as long as she has. Yes the Democrats won the White House in 2008 and 2012, but they’ve had an abysmal record with down ballot races. She also has never seemed particularly competent either. So from my perspective she was perfect for the role.
I am going to miss her speaking at the Iowa State Fair, I found that somewhat amusing in a twisted sort of way. Just to reminisce here is a video of what will be her last soapbox speech.
Now if we can only get RNC Chair Reince Priebus to resign after the rules fiasco last week.
