Congressman Rod Blum (R-Iowa) released a video his campaign says is in response to attack ads paid for by Nancy Pelosi’s super PAC in Iowa’s 1st Congressional District race. He highlights the need to fix Medicare and Social Security for those who have paid into the system their entire lives.

Transcript:

Rod Blum: My father died when he was 52 of lung cancer. So my mother was 49-years-old and a widow and still had two of us boys in the house so she received Social Security survivor’s benefits. Without that Social Security check she would have been in poverty.

That is why I am such a supporter for making sure that we fix Social Security and Medicare. Our senior citizens have played by the rules their entire life and the system ought to be there when they retire.

I’m Rod Blum and I approve this message.
