What Now of Our Attempts at Getting the Country Back for God?

| November 29, 2012 | 1 Reply

Having now disposed of the two previous questions (What is a nation? and Is America a Christian nation?), I now return to challenging the idea that a Christian can “get the country back” for God through gaining political power. In the face of a growing tyranny/anarchy state, it is tempting for the Christian to become [...]

No Deflection, No Avoidance, No Compromise: No More Romneys.

| November 11, 2012 | 11 Replies

Our fearless leader and blogmeister, Shane Vander Hart, has been addressing what “went wrong” in 2012 for the GOP over the last few days. I agree with many of his opinions, so there is no need to reiterate them all here. I must take exception, however, with his take on abortion and other social issues [...]

“Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD. And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; [...]

Adam Graham’s Poll-Driven Definition of Pro-Life: Who Will the American People Throw Overboard Next?

| November 1, 2012 | 3 Replies

Adam Graham takes me to task for inventing my own definition of prolife, suggesting that I and others who refuse to vote for Romney don’t really want to save lives. First, we are too strict on our definition. “Given that about half of Americans identify as pro-life but only 14% oppose abortion in the cases [...]

Don’t Get Distracted in the Voting Booth

| October 31, 2012 | 8 Replies

Your duty as a Christian in the Voting Booth is the same as it is everywhere: Do all to the Glory of God, Keep His Commandments. Pray without ceasing. Love Christ more than anything else in this world, and Trust God, rather than men. I have not been devoting much effort trying to persuade people [...]

The Life of the Mother Exception: What Baby?

| October 29, 2012 | 2 Replies

What if you couldn’t save everybody? This is a hypothetical question found in the “lifeboat game” and often designed in our day to persuade people into accepting the notion that some lives are less valuable than others and therefore expendable. The origins of the game itself in 1974 can be attributed to ecologist Garrett Hardin, [...]

It may be true that you are against an abortion here or there. What Kind of Nation Are We? Christian, Secular, Pluralistic?

| October 24, 2012 | 2 Replies

Having defined a nation, according to Scripture, I will address the question as to whether or not the United States is a Christian Nation. Gary North recognizes the flaws in some approaches to this question: There have been many detailed intellectual defenses of the United States as a Christian nation. These studies invariably rest on [...]

How Does the Bible Define the Word Nation? (It Is Not What You Think)

| October 16, 2012 | Reply

Is there any basis in Scripture for the Christian to take back a nation for Jesus? Nations are first mentioned in Genesis 10:5: “By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.” The scattering of those nations across the globe is [...]

Besides the errors of government too big and government too small, there is one other growing temptation for the Christian that may have become more common than either of those other ills and is even more deadly: government too important. We have convinced ourselves that gaining the seats of power is the key to spreading [...]
