imageARC Entertainment, the distributor of “The Undefeated,” the film about Gov. Sarah Palin’s rise from obscurity to national prominence, announced today that beginning on September 1st the film will be available to 75 million homes via Video on Demand and Pay-Per-View access through national and regional cable and satellite operators.  The DVD will launch on October 4th and will be available at traditional and online retailers nationwide.  ARC is estimating its initial unit shipment to be approximately 250,000 units.  A “Special Edition” DVD will contain additional new content and will only be sold in Walmart stores.  ARC will continue to expand the limited engagement theatrical release nationwide throughout August and September as demand across the country remains high.

Trevor Drinkwater, CEO of ARC Entertainment, said, “Since the film opened in select markets across the country on July 15th we have been inundated with requests from people wanting the film to be made available in their market. After methodically analyzing the most effective ways to bring this galvanizing film to the widest audience as soon as possible we have determined that continued limited theatrical distribution, Video-on-Demand, Pay-Per-View and DVD sales will be the best modalities by which to deliver this film as widely as possible. We have created partnerships with national cable, satellite and mass retailers to achieve our distribution goals.”

“This title is absolutely perfect for Video-on-Demand and Pay-Per-View backed by a traditional and significant marketing campaign. We are incredibly excited about having this film made available to the entire country earlier than expected,” said Glenn Bracken Evans, the film’s producer.  “A traditional windowed release would not have allowed us to maximize viewership of this highly sought after film,” continued Evans.

“The Undefeated is a terrific case study for a digital cinema release.  We have been nimble, efficient and brought this film to many eager viewers with almost no turn around time,” said Jill Newhouse Calcaterra, chief marketing officer at Cinedigm, the film’s digital distributor. “We look forward to bringing this film to many more audiences across the country during the next month.”

Filmmaker Stephen K. Bannon stated, “Given the strong audience reaction we have determined there is overwhelming demand for us to get this film out broadly enough to cover the entire nation in September and October. In a 90-day period from August to November we will be able to effectively cover the nation through multiple distribution modalities.”

The Video-on-Demand and Pay-Per-View deals with strategic partners will be backed by a multi-million-dollar advertising campaign to heighten awareness in all markets to the film’s availability.

Written and directed by Stephen K. Bannon and produced by Victory Film Group co-founder Glenn Bracken Evans and Dan Fleuette, “The Undefeated“ was independently financed by Victory Film Group and its partners.

The film debuted theatrically to multiple sold-out runs and enthusiastic audience support with weekend per-screen averages above $11,000 in top markets. The film was rushed to select digital theatres in only three weeks, and was marketed entirely through social media and grass roots efforts with virtually no traditional media spend.

The film includes leading prominent political commentators Mark Levin, Tammy Bruce and Andrew Breitbart as well as conservative activists Kate Obenshain, Sonnie Johnson and Jamie Radtke. Additionally, the film features interviews with Alaskan civil servants, elected officials and advisors who were involved in Alaskan politics during Governor Palin’s tenure.

  1. SarahPAC can’t fill theater seats by buying blocks of tickets, but they can buy thousands of DVDs to make it seem people care about this.  Visit SarahPAC to see when they start giving away DVDs for contributions of $10 or more.

    1. This movie has not been advertised!  What don’t you understand about that?  Not one penny has been spent through traditional advertising. Not even the usual newspaper announcements of the film.  Yet they still manage to sell out in nearly all the venues where it has been shown.  Sorry, but that sounds like a grassroots success to me.

SarahPac has nothing to do with this movie.  Sarah Palin herself has nothing to do with this movie.  It is all Steve Bannon’s doing…he owns it, made it without her final approval, and is distributing it without consulting Palin.  All the profits go to him as well. Sarah does not benefit in any way economically.

Never has Sarah Palin had to buy up blocks of books, tickets, or anything else with her name on it. Only losers have to do that. Hate to tell you…she is not a loser.

It is NOT going “straight” to DVD…it is playing in select theaters for another month before it hits pay per view and then another month before the DVDs are out.  Most political documentaries do not do well at theaters unless they are given mass multimedia advertising.  Most DO go directly to TV or DVDs.

I feel sorry for you Palin haters who automatically have to diss anything having to do with her.  You have lost your credibility along with your objectivity.

      1. Dear Lanahi,
The movie got more advertising than most – I knew it was playing before it came out because it was in the news.  Palinians were told to support/see it, so they knew times and dates.  Most people don’t care to see it and those who paid to see it in a theater probably won’t do so a second time.  Time will tell how it does, but few theaters will keep it around because few people will see it (they’ll show something that they know people MIGHT want to see).

Since I wrote the above, news says SarahPAC will offer copies of the DVD with $100 donations for those who “can’t wait” for the October release when 250,000 copies ship to Walmart – I predict it’ll quickly end up in the bargain bin (if indeed someone ships 250,000 copies if it has poor response on PPV).

SarahPAC has already bought DVDs (see above) and was shipping Sarah’s 2nd book for donations (I forget name of the book, but saw ad on SarahPAC website).

I don’t hate Sarah.  I, like most people, am tired of and bored with her because she only criticizes and offers no alternative plans.

Sarah won’t run.  She will “continue doing her work [trying to fleece doe-eyed pigeons] from outside the confines of a political office”.  She said she”ll announce (in Aug or Sept) before the DVD hits Walmart, but this could get delayed.

  3. It’s incredible how this is being spun as a success. Any other time a movie goes straight to DVD it’s considered to be a failure. This is absolutely priceless TOTAL CRAP. “Available to 75 million homes”. Even PORN is available to more homes than that. It doesn’t mean everyone is going to WATCH it.

    1. This movie will die soon and non-Palinians will be blamed.  In a way that’s true, because most people have seen/heard too much Sarah over the past 2.5 years, and have decided not to pay/spend time seeing/hearing more.  Sarah has been overexposed, so people have already formed an opinion – she’ll neither gain nor lose any more supporters (except those who get tired of Sitting with Sarah and move on to Bachmann).
