It has been an active hurricane season with three hurricanes – Harvey, Irma, and Maria – impacting the U.S. mainland or its territories. Christian-based organizations have led the relief efforts for Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Hurricane Maria also recently devastated Puerto Rico presenting significant challenges to meeting basic human needs.
Southern Baptists are one of the leading groups on the ground. They have provided disaster relief for fifty years. Shane Vander Hart speaks with David Melber, the Vice President of Send Relief which is the compassion ministry of the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.
Melber discusses what Southern Baptists do, the impact they have made, and what the pressing needs are for disaster relief efforts in Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. They also discuss what you can do to help.
