IMG_3337(Altoona, IA) U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) held a meet and greet at the Pizza Ranch during lunchtime. A group of approximately 30 people were in the establishment’s meeting room to hear from presidential candidate.  Paul spent twenty minutes speaking and taking questions from prospective voters.

His remarks deviated from his standard stump speech instead focusing on the back and forth he had with U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) on the topic of military spending.  Paul said Rubio wants to increase military spending by $1 trillion dollars and questioned whether or not if a candidate could consider themselves a fiscal conservative backing plans like that.  Paul said the U.S. still has the highest military spending in the world and could function at current levels by cutting out waste and prioritized spending.
